Surgery Treatment (Room 8)
Room 8 is a 45-second race: start with IV Drops, use the surgery remedies, finish before the timer hits zero.
Quick answer
Surgery always starts with IV Drops — that starts the 45-second countdown. Then use the surgery remedies (Medkit, Bandages, Medicine, Antibiotics, Scissors, Scalpel, Organ, Transplant) to complete the procedure. Finish in time and you get +1 Sanity; run out of time or give the wrong remedy and the patient dies (anomalies excepted).
The 45-second rule
- IV Drops is the starter step — give it first, every time.
- After the patient is cured the timer can still tick for about two seconds, so finish early.
- Completing a surgery grants +1 Sanity.
- Room 8 has its own remedy set: Antibiotics, Scalpel, Scissors, Transplant and Organ join Medkit, Bandages, IV Drops and Medicine.
When a Tentacle spawns
If a Tentacle grows out of the patient in Room 8, a second surgery starts immediately with its own death countdown. The treatment is essentially the same, but you do not need the IV Drops prep, and the first four remedies are always the same.
Do not tase or shoot a patient with a Tentacle. The Tentacle does not mean the patient is an anomaly — attacking them instantly kills the patient and counts as an animal death. Complete the surgery instead.
Common surgery mistakes
- Giving IV Drops late — the timer starts only after the prep step.
- Tasing a Tentacle patient 'to be safe' — it is an instant animal death.
- Running out of surgery remedies — keep them stocked in the supplies shop.
